The neuroendocrine system includes many hormones: growth hormone, stress hormone, testosterone and estrogen, and thyroid hormone, among others. Some symptoms of hormonal dysfunction may be vague (fatigue, mental fog) and overlap with symptoms stemming from other reasons, and other symptoms may be more specific; regardless, a careful history and laboratory evaluation can help decipher when a neuroendocrine problem is at the root of symptoms, and point the way towards treating them.
